Nine (9) months ago, Gohn came to our life as an ordinary dog. A German Shepherd by breed, he has that typical huge built and a ferocious stance. Children in the neighborhood became wary in playing near our house because of the big dog. They never knew that he can be so gentle and playful.
He endeared himself to me when I was on the dawn shift. He would be there to acknowledge me as soon as I get out of the house at 3 am while preparing to go to work. It’s just like having another human being to watch your every move or someone to keep you company to ward off the feeling of being frightened in the middle of the night. To some members of the family, he became a nuisance because once he sees a cat, he would surely bark outrageously.
Two weeks ago my brother told our friend who is a Veterinary doctor that he would want to have Gohn given up for adoption as he can’t afford the dog food anymore. I thought it was just a joke , but a week later, a couple came to the house and checked Gohn out.. Last night, they came back bringing another man with a vehicle and took Gohn away.
I can’t help but feel sad with the recent turn of events. Before he was taken away, Gohn clung to my brother and me. I felt that he doesn’t want to be given away. I did took the man’s phone number and told him that we will be checking in on Gohn from time to time. He was not sold, so we felt that we still have the right to know about Gohn’s new life.
Today I woke up missing Gohn’s outrageous barking . I hope he will be taken cared of by his new Master like a part of his family the way he was with us. I just hope!
