Ah1N1 update

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

My fear for the H1N1 virus coming in close proximity within my kids immediate environment has unfortunately happened. XU Grade School where my daughter is studying suspended their classes because of the alleged 8 confirmed cases in the XU High School campus. They have also done the same for the College level so all of XU community has no class right now.

Considering the number of foreign students in their campus, it has always been my fear that this thing should really happen. I have realized though that any one can be a carrier so my apology for the bad thought.

I have talked about that fear in my previous blog. Up until now, I still nag them about all the precautions that one should follow. We can never be too careful with our children. They should be able to digest the reason behind all the precautions themselves.

Classes will resume after 10 days, and hopefully, no other case will come up again, otherwise we should expect for the classes to end in April. I am sure our children wouldn’t like that ?

Just tonight, I have heard that other schools have followed suit. They have suspended their classes as well, and this is not good. That means that the virus is really all over the city.

I hope this pandemic will be over soon. One can only hope that a vaccine will be discovered for this, but as the rate things are going, it would not be very soon. One can only hope then that it will have run out of victims because our immune systems are too strong for the strain of the flu virus.

Let us strive to be healthy then ;)

I heard the news about Michael Jackson’s death while I was at work at 4 am dawn. Since I am on graveyard shift now, I don’t have that much time to blog.
It was a sure thing though that I would blog about it. There may have been a little delay but here I am.

I cannot pass on the chance of talking about this phenomenal icon.

I am not really a great fan of his but nevertheless, he was a part of my growing up years and so I have formed quite an opinion about him. I didn’t get to see him perform during his popular “Ben” years as I may have been a newborn baby during that time. I only got to notice him when he was already doing those to- die- for dance moves.

I liked the way he performs but I didn’t like his reputation of being a pedophile. So no matter how good he strut on-stage, I cannot bring myself to really like him as a person. His music was good owing to the golden voice, his dance moves were much imitated. But as much as I tried to like him as a whole, I cannot do so because the thought that he could be a mean person if he could be abusing little boys in exchange for giving them money made me feel angry.

Of course no one can really say how true it is, but as they say, if there’s smoke there is at least fire”.
